Martinus van der Gugten opens a canteen at Veiling Flora (flower auction) in Rijnsburg

He sells coffee, biscuits and the ever popular bread roll filled with a meat ball. But Martinus is a true entrepreneur and sees new opportunities – what clients really need is a good cup of coffee and good packaging. He gets the ball rolling, slowly at first, with old newspapers as filling material and straw baskets. This ‘modest’ start gathers momentum and evolves into a new core activity. Van der Gugten Verpakkingen is a fact.
